Miss ORA Exhibition Contestant
Miss Rodeo Iowa 2020
Jefferson, IA
Age: 25

I am the 25 year old daughter of Charles and Robin Gunn. I hang my hat in the small town of Jefferson, Iowa, where I work as a social worker in a nursing home. I graduated from Graceland University in 2016. Growing up I participated in
4-H, showing horses, rabbits, and cattle. In 2018, I won the title of "Pony Express Double D Rodeo Queen". I helped fundraise for Easter Seals Camp Sunnyside, a camp for disable adults and children. Here campers go horseback riding and fishing, participate in arts and crafts but most importantly make memories and friends that will impact them for a lifetime. My goal is to inspire others that it is never too late to try something new. It doesn't matter your age, height, size, or color of your skin. If you want to do something, do it. The only limit is you.

Why do you want to be Miss ORA?

I would love to be the next Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Queen to continue to promote the sport of rodeo, agriculture, and the Ozark Rodeo Association.
In September, I competed for the Miss Rodeo Iowa title. I will be participating in this pageant to further better myself in all aspects of a rodeo queen pageant as an exhibition contestant. I believe the best tool to learn is by doing.
My platform is Healthy Minds, Happy Hearts, and Helping Hands. I believe that in order to have a healthy, positive self we have to have a healthy mind, and a happy heart. As a result we have a helping hand to give to others. Did you know 1 in 5 adults in the United States suffer from a mental illness? I want to shed light on this and that it is okay to get help. Horses are very therapeutic and I want people to realize the importance of the agriculture industry and the positive impact a horse can have on your life.
Another area of focus I would have is our youth. We hear all the time that our youth is the next generation of rodeo. I want to shed light on the rodeo queening industry. I want to inspire others that it is never too late to try something new. I have learned many valuable skills-interview skills, public speaking skills, how to be confident and so much more. Growing up I didn’t know anything about being a rodeo queen. I got my start in rodeo queening at an older age. Even though I have grown so
much as an individual I wish I could have started rodeo queening sooner. I want to open this door to other little girls and remind them it doesn’t matter your age, gender, color of skin. If you want to do something and it makes you happy don’t let anything else get in the way of accomplishing your dreams. The only limit is you.
